ASUS
Below, yourname.honkip.com and YOUR_UPDATE_KEY stand for your own name and update key.
On ASUS routers running Merlin firmware, go to WAN โ DDNS, set Server to Custom and apply. Then turn on Administration โ System โ Enable JFFS custom scripts, log in with SSH, and run:
cat > /jffs/scripts/ddns-start <<'EOF'
#!/bin/sh
curl -fsS "https://update.honkip.com/update?key=YOUR_UPDATE_KEY&ip=$1" >/dev/null && /sbin/ddns_custom_updated 1 || /sbin/ddns_custom_updated 0
EOF
chmod +x /jffs/scripts/ddns-start
Type this exactly. $1 is filled in by the router itself each time it updates. Don't replace it with anything.
Check it worked
- Save the settings, then look at the Dynamic DNS page again. Most routers show a status like Connected, Success or Updated, sometimes with your address next to it.
- Once you have an account, Last check-in on My home shows when it last worked.
- Look your name up from any computer: nslookup yourname.honkip.com. The address it shows should be your home's address.
